VCloud - Product Documentation

The VCloud dashboard

VCloud is a managed self-hosting platform: pick an open-source business application from the catalog, and VCloud runs it for you, on infrastructure it operates, extended with single sign-on, secure access, and automated backups. You never provision a server, patch an operating system, or hold a cloud account of your own.

A few ideas run through the whole product, and most naming choices only make sense once you have them in mind:

  • One organization, one bill. Everything you deploy belongs to your organization. Your plan is priced by the compute allocated to it, not by how many applications you install or how many people you invite.
  • Every app arrives extended. What you get is never just the upstream open-source project. VCloud adds single sign-on (including to apps with no native authentication of their own), a private access path, and automated backups on top of it.
  • Nobody on your side operates a server. There is no shell access to the infrastructure underneath your applications, for anyone. Operational tasks that would normally need a terminal - restarting a service, checking status, rotating a connection - are exposed as actions in the dashboard instead.

What's inside#

  • Introduction - the platform's design philosophy, the vocabulary used throughout the rest of these docs, and how VCloud's model compares to running your own server.
  • Concepts - the objects you work with: organizations, members, the App Store, app instances and their lifecycle, billing, and notifications.
  • Getting started - signing up, your organization's automatic setup, and installing your first app.
  • Configuration - organization profile, sign-in, members, billing, and notification settings.
  • Guides - task-oriented walkthroughs, from your first install to day-to-day operation.
  • Features - a catalog of what VCloud does, including a page per app in the catalog.
  • Integrations - identity providers, payments, and the messaging platforms an app like OpenClaw connects to.
  • Support and feedback - how to reach us, request an app, and how this documentation itself is maintained.
